Overview:
This is a long term project where the client wanted to establish a truffle farm (Truffery) which meant JSW had to do some considerable earthworks, planting works and mulching works to establish more than 200 juvenile oak trees.
The work entailed turning the sloping hill into a series of level terraces much easier to work from in the long term. However in order to get the truffle trees to hopefully produce well, they need a fair amount of limestone mixed in with them, while the benches were created the soil was excavated and turned over to a 1.5 meter depth below the topsoil line and mixed in together to bring the limestone to the surface and mix in with the layer of topsoil.
Considerable time pressure was put on the project after the initial 8 ton excavator specified for the project was too small to break through a lot of the boulders below ground. A 25 ton machine was replaced and all the works completed over the winter with an ongoing maintenance register on them too.
